Eighteen Hole Courses

Great Rift Valley Golf Club > Nakuru Golf Club

Great Rift Valley Golf club
The golf course is part of the Great Rift Valley Lodge complex. This wonderful, young and well-maintained 18-hole course lies at 5,000 feet altitude, just north of Lake Naivasha. There are spectacular views of the lake and the Great Rift Valley escarpment, and it can easily be done as a day trip from Nairobi, just 90 minutes drive. However, its worth staying overnight to get a couple of rounds in. Instead of hotel rooms, a group of golfers can rent one of the many self-catering homes built along the course inexpensively. The course par is 71, over 5,923 yards for men and 5,037 yards for ladies. There are many interesting and challenging holes including the par-4 ninth, the long par-3 fifteenth, the par-five seventeenth (fantastic), and the par-four eighteenth. All said, a memorable Kenyan golf experience. second hole tee box at Great Rift Valley golf course in Kenya

Nakuru Golf Club
Nakuru's eighteen hole course is a long uphill-downhill and across the slopes par-73. The distance is 6,802 yards for men and 5,987 yards for women. Set on the hills above Nakuru town at 6,200 feet altitude, there are stunning views of Lake Nakuru from the upper holes on the course, notably the closing three. The very first hole is an uphill par-4 challenge. Other challenges on the front nine are the long par-4 third, the par-3 fourth, the blind approach to the par-4 fifth, and the par-4 sixth tee box. A unique feature of the back nine is the 'dongas' (very deep gullies) on the par-4 twelfth and par-3 seventeenth (see photo right). Thirteen is a long par-5 usually played into the wind, followed by the tricky par-4 fourteenth. The green on the par-3 fifteenth is steeply uphill. The home hole on the par-5 eighteenth is just breathtaking at the tee box. Nakuru is best played during and immediately after the rainy reasons. It does not play well in the very dry weather. With better management of the bumpy and slow greens as well as fairway watering systems, Nakuru has the potential to be one of Africa's great courses. seventeenth tee box at Nakuru golf course in Kenya
