| Karen Country Club | |
| At an altitude of 6,200 feet and just 20 minutes from Nairobi city centre, Karen is one of the best manicured and maintained golf courses in Kenya. It is particular scenic when the magnificent course flora is in full bloom. The standard tee yardage is 6672/par-71 for men and 5951/par-73 for ladies. Off the back tees, the course par for men is 73 over 6934 yards. The course is reserved for members only at weekends, club night is on Thursdays, and the course is regularly booked for corporate outings. Karen's principal challenges are its longer par four holes (numbers 6, 9, 13 and 17), a tricky par 3 with water (number 14) and fast greens (some with difficult-to-read breaks). Apart from the 'loop' (holes 10, 11 and 12) and the fourth hole, Karen is fairly flat, while virtually all fairways are forgiving. The weekday green fee for non-members is ksh 2,900 (US$1 = ksh 81). | |

| Set in the rolling tea plantations and farmlands 30 minutes from Nairobi, at 7,000 feet altitude, Limuru offers a unique hole-by-hole scenic challenge to all golfers. | The Club has recently completed a major course redevelopment programme with some final touches remaining. All greens are to USGU standards and provide the major challenge on this magnificent new course which has set the standards for all other clubs to follow towards development of golf tourism in Kenya. | Royal Nairobi Golf Club |

| One of Kenya's oldest golf clubs, Royal has a long and challenging par 72 course over 7,021 yards for men and 5,756 yards for ladies. Royal Nairobi is just 10 minutes form Nairobi city centre and lies at 6,000 feet altitude. On the outward nine, the tee shot on hole three, and holes number five (par 4), six (par 3) and seven (par 5) will test the best golfers. On the back nine, holes number fourteen (par 4) and fifteen (par 5) are frighteningly long for the average golfer. The embankment of number fifteen catches out many golfers. The eighteenth requires a well aimed tee shot. The well-attended club night Club is on Thursdays, and there are regular weekend competitions. Green fees for non-members are ksh 2,000 on weekdays, and ksh 2,400 on weekends and public holidays (US$1 = ksh 81). Royal is also home to Kenya's most prestigious inter-club tournament, the Tanahill Shield. This superbly organized annual Easter event brings together the best Kenyan amateurs. | |

| Thika's picturesque course at 5,000 feet altitude was recently extended from nine to eighteen holes. The course par is 72 over 6570 yards for men and 5,987 yards for ladies. | Just 25 minutes from Nairobi centre, the Windsor course is carved out of a natural forest setting at 5,500 feet altitude. From the front tees, the course par is 71 over 6,407 yards for men and 5,579 yards for ladies. From the daunting back tees, the course par is 72 for men over 6,751 yards, and 73 for ladies over 5,816 yards. The main course management issue on virtually every hole at Windsor is to stay on the fairway. Rough is generally unforgiving, while in many cases, the adjacent fairway dense woodlands are unplayable. The par-4 holes one, two, nine and eighteen have scenic water settings. The par-5 fourth and par-4 eleventh are extra-long. Two interesting second shot options are available on the par-4 fourteenth, while the second shot is critical on the par-five fifteenth. Club night is Wednesdays, while Windsor also boasts a modern hotel complex. The pricey green fees are ksh 3,960 on weekdays, and US$95 on weekends. Fees for hotel residents are ksh 1,180 on weekdays and ksh 2,370 on weekends (US$1 = ksh 81). Bring lots of golf balls! | |

| Situated at 6,000 feet altitude, and 35 minutes from Nairobi centre. Kiambu is a homely, nine-hole course with 18 tee boxes playing par-72. Double greens/pins are available on holes 3/12, 5/14, 6/15 and 9/18. The course is 6,517 yards for men, and 5,643 yards for ladies. It provides for a pleasant round of golf in coffee heartland. | For the adventurous and sitting next to Magadi soda lake, the course is carved out of the rift valley desert at 2,000 feet altitude and a couple of hours drive from Nairobi. Its exercising 9-hole/18-tee box course par is 72 over 6,555 yards for men and 5,668 yards for women. The tee boxes and greens are "browns". Green fees are modest. | This once popular course which is visible from the highway close to the centre of Nairobi requires some upgrading. Over 18 tees, the course par is 72. | Vet Lab is by far the best maintained of Nairobi's nine-hole/18 tee-box courses. The club is trying to secure additional surrounding land to extend to eighteen holes. The course lies at 6,150 feet altitude, just 20 minutes from Nairobi city centre. Over 18 holes, the par is 72, playing 6,358 yards for men and 5,658 yards for ladies.
