Getting A Handicap
To get a golf handicap, beginners require five eighteen-hole score cards of 110 strokes or better (men), or 122 strokes or better (women and juniors). The cards must be signed by an officially handicapped golfer who obviously must have played with you. Subject to your performances, the handicap manager will either allocate you a 'club' or official handicap. The difference is that on a 'club handicap' you are limited to participating in competitions at your home club, and your competition card must be marked by an officially handicapped player. Before progressing to an official handicap, the resident professional will also assess your knowledge and understanding of the rules and etiquette of golf.

Transfer of Handicap
If you already are an officially handicapped golfer and are joining Limuru from another club, you will want to transfer your handicap from your previous club. This procedure is simple and we just require written, fax or e-mail confirmation of your latest handicap from a person in authority at your previous club (current captain, vice-captain, handicap manager, golf secretary, club secretary, club manager, etc). Remember also that to play some courses overseas, you will need similar official written confirmation of your handicap from Limuru.
